All kenshi should have a sodeshō (sleeve badge) on their dōgi (training suit) which indicates the branch name (or country), organizational affiliation, and to some extent, degree. In Sweden we use branch name, which also is done in Japan and many other countries, however many countries have chosen to have country name on their badges. Continue reading

Instructors seminar
On the 8th of October the Swedish Federation arranged, for the fifth time, a training day for everyone who has sandan (3 dan) or higher. The Federation is sponsoring all from outside Stockholm with travel cost and there is no fee to participate. From Karlstad shibu our shibu-chō, Anders Pettersson, and Mansur Mirtorabi both participated.
The format of these seminars has been to share and exchange experience, give each other tips on different exercises, etc., but above all an opportunity to practice techniques for higher levels together with others on the same level.
Gasshuku in Dinkelscherben
During the weekend of September 23 to 25 the German Federation organised a gasshuku (training camp) in Dinkelscherben in southern Germany (near Augsburg, where a number of the German branches are located).
Aosaka-sensei, 8 dan Daihanshi and official WSKO instructor, from Paris was the main instructor for this gasshuku. From Karlstad, and as the only one from Sweden, I was attending this gasshuku. In addition to the participants from all the German branches there were participants from Italy, Switzerland, Finland and of course France, with Aosaka-sensei.
New Homepage
We now have a new website. We have changed our platform and are now using WordPress. Work is under way to transfer all information from the old site to the new. It will probably take a few days until all is finished.
Another new thing is that now we will again have an English version of the site, just as we had some years ago.
Practice for Shonenbu Start Again on August 30
Now are the summer holidays over and we kick off training for the children’s group again.
We welcome all “old” members back to training.
I add a couple of clips from YouTube for some inspiration for all our kids:
A kumi embu (paired embu) from a taikai in children in Japan.

Grading for Shōnenbu (Children’s Group)
On Thursday, 26th of May, we had a grading for the shōnenbu (children’s group).
There were 12 children who did their test at this time. Filippa and Tindra graded to 4th kyū (green belt, three angles) and Oscar tested to 5th kyū (green belt two angles). To 7th kyū (yellow belt two angles) we had Simon, Hugo, Sebastian, Joar, Victor and Robert. Finally, we had Oliwer, Melvin and Emilie who all graded to 8th kyū (yellow belt one angle).
All did very well and passed their tests. A big Congratulations!
No Training During the Ascension Weekend
We have no training on Thursday, June 2 and Saturday, June 4 due to the holidays. Normal training again as usual on Tuesday, when we also have the last session for the term for the children’s group.
