During the weekend of January 12 to 13 there was a Gasshuku (training camp) in Gothenburg, that was focused on embu, but there were also a lot of time for seihō. We were five kenshi from Karlstad who went down to Gothenburg early on Saturday morning. It was Christer, Alva, Simon Pelle and Anders.
Training started at 10.00 and it was a little over twenty participants (all could not attend the whole weekend so some are missing on the group photo). Of course this Gasshuku also had things like chinkon gyō and some kihon, but the focus was on training embu.
Anders-sensei held a hōwa (lecture) about embu and explained how to put together an embu, what the regulations and rules are for embu competition etc.
On Sunday we also had some time practising on the new type of kumi embu that is included in the grading test in the new grading system with will start from 1st of April. All were also given the opportunity to demonstrate some embu.
We also had a few sessions with seihō that Arnaud-sensei taught. This was much appreciated by many of our members and hopefully we can arrange a day when Arnaud can come up to Karlstad and spend a little more time on seihō.
There was also some time set aside for training hōkei for each rank and the opportunity to ask questions about techniques.
Saturday evening we went out to eat together and those of us that were not from Gothenburg all stayed in their dojo.
Below are some more pictures from the weekend.
Detta var ett kul läger! Stort tack till arrangörerna!
